Let the shoulders drop every kilometre. Speed is not the point — presence is.

A gentle sustained rise to Parliament Hill (roughly 4% for 350 m) then a soft descending recovery loop through the Vale of Health. Off-road strollers and adaptive trail chairs manage well; a companion is a kindness on the summit ramp. Not suitable for standard road wheelchairs. Accessible route via Highgate Gate skips the summit — full step-free variant is 4.2 km with the same views from South Meadow.

  • BenchesLog benches at overlooks · summit teak semicircle at Parliament Hill

  • ShadeDeep oak and hornbeam canopy on the recovery loop; open meadow on the ascent — carry a cap
  • Rest pointsSummit semicircle, South Meadow oak clearing, Vale of Health pond bench — each a genuine pause

Because a small earned rise re-teaches the nervous system that effort and rest are not opposites — the descent afterwards is medicine you can feel arriving.
